3D Movies At Home
Some peopl
e may feel that 3D is not here to stay. I remember my Mom talking about the 3D craze of the 1950′s and how it didn’t work and how it didn’t last. Modern 3D TVs and 3D players actually work and the glasses are pretty nice too.
What is new with the modern 3D is that it not only works, but now we can watch it at home. We can purchase or rent 3D movies and watch them on our 3D TVs.
Many 3D movies of the past may have been just a novelty but the new movies are actually real movies with plots and believable special effects and they are in 3D too.
Technology has improved and modern Disney movies have really helped paved the way. It doesn’t hurt to have big Hollywood productions like Avatar being shown in 3D either. There were at least 17 3D movies produced in 2009 and at least another 12 planned for 2010.
It didn’t take long for technology producers to create the at home 3D technology. This was something we didn’t even no was possible and now it is not only attainable but somewhat affordable. In fact the only thing holding up production of 3D equipment at home is lack of movies. Which won’t be far behind because if there is a demand there will be a product in our economy.
So how do we watch our 3D movies? If you have a 3D Blu Ray Player you can enjoy your 3D movies in full 3D on a 3D TV. If you don’t have a 3D player the movies are backward compatible and they will still play on your regular player. The Sony PS3 is able to play 3D discs, but may need a firmware update.
Across the pond in England Sky Broadcasting did a test where they broadcast a sports event in some local pubs. It was such a hit, they are now rolling out a full 3D channel. ESPN is planning on launching a 3D channel as well. I’m not even a sports fan, but I have to admit 3D sports sound really cool. There is also a partnership in the works between Discovery, Imax, and Sony which can only lead to eye candy for the imagination and mind.
